What are Qualicaps capsules made from?
Qualicaps two-piece capsules are made from animal-sourced gelatin or plant-sourced hypromellose. 
What is the difference between tablets, capsules, caplets and softgels?
There are two types of capsule: the two-piece capsule which can be filled with a range of materials from powders to liquids and the much thicker walled ‘softgel’ capsules made as a single sealed unit filled with liquid or semi-solid fills. Capsules are easy to swallow because of their shape and are great for masking odors and tastes. Tablets are made by compressing and compacting materials using tons of force. Tablet formulations typically contain more excipients than capsules, including binders that help ‘hold’ the tablet together. Many tablets are now made capsule shaped, i.e. caplets, and are usually film coated with various materials, including gelatin, to make them easier to swallow.
When do capsules dissolve?
Capsules are water-soluble and are designed to start releasing their contents within minutes after swallowing and dissolve in the stomach. For more information about dissolution, please contact us.
Do Qualicaps’ gelatin capsules contain gluten?
No. All types of Qualicaps capsules are gluten-free and can be taken safely by people on special diets. Gluten is a protein found in wheat, rye, barley and oat products, none of which are used in the manufacture of two-piece capsules.
What is hypromellose (HPMC)?
Hypromellose is the official name for hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC). It is a cellulose derivative made from plants and is used to make capsules without using materials of animal origin. Qualicaps’ Quali-V® capsules are made using hypromellose.
Can Quali-V® (hypromellose) capsules be filled on automatic capsule filling and band-sealing equipment?

Can Quali-V® capsules be sealed?
Yes, Qualicaps band-sealing equipment can seal either Quali-V or gelatin capsules. Quali-Seal Kits are available in both gelatin and hypromellose and can be colored to create differentiation and improve product recognition.
Are there any existing commercial products made from Quali-V® capsules?

What is the shelf life of capsules?
Qualicaps capsules stored correctly in sealed packaging will have an average shelf life of at least three years. Adhering to the recommended storage conditions is critical. Stability test results of properly stored capsules confirm that they can maintain their moisture and physical dimensions for at least three years.
