Gelatin
The gelatin capsule is the most common form of capsule for oral
dosage formulations. The gelatin capsule has been on the market
for over 150 years; the first patents of J.C. Lehuby’s date
back to 1846.
Qualicaps also has a long history in capsule manufacturing.
More recently, in the early 1990s Qualicaps invested in
a major upgrade by building two new dedicated, cGMP capsule manufacturing
facilities; one in the U.S. and one in Europe.

The standard Qualicaps capsule is the Posilok®
two-piece gelatin capsule with its positive mechanical lock
made by indentations in the cap and body. The vented cap indentation
allows air to escape when the capsule is closed on high-speed filling
machines. The capsule has a Pre-lok feature to prevent separation
of the empty cap and body prior to filling. POSILOK® is the
registered trademark for the locking system used by Qualicaps.
It ensures that the contents reach the consumer intact, and are
protected at all times from external contamination. The feature
has been designed to give optimum performance in the "pre-locked
state" prior to filling on your machine.
This design allows the filling of different
types of formulation such as:
