IS-500
- Tablet Imprinting System with Inspection Function
The IS-500 is a tablet imprinting machine with additional inspection
capabilities to sort out defective tablets due to appearance or
print. The exceptional design of this machine, which complies with
cGMP guidelines, provides extremely smooth handling and transportation
for different sized and shaped tablets. This machine offers one-side
printing of both coated and film-coated tablets that range in size
from 5 – 11 mm (diameter) and 2 – 5 mm (thickness) (round).
The IS-500 can print and inspect 500,000 tablets/hour.

Overview of Imprint/Inspection Process:
Tablets put into a positioning drum are oriented into a horizontal
position for the first front inspection. The front surface of the
tablets are inspected by CCD cameras prior to the printing process.
Characters are printed on the front surface of the tablets by offset-gravure
method. An air blower quickly dries the print. The printed tablets
are then inspected for rear surface condition and quality of print.
When a tablet is defective (front surface, rear surface or print)
it will be discharged and only acceptable tablets will pass out
from the IS-500.
Common defects that the IS-500 can detect are appearance defects
such as cracks, foreign material, specks, scrapes, deformation,
different color. Print defects include insufficient characters,
no print, blurred characters or position sliding.
